|Saratoga Springs, NY - Maria L. (Bolton/Casertino) Appell, 63 of Saratoga Springs, New York passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Saratoga Hospital after a courageous battle with kidney disease.
Born December 18, 1948 in Cohoes, New York, Maria was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Rita (Tomaro) Bolton.
Maria was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all she met. She was an avid fan of the Saratoga Race Course, attending nearly every day of the meet for three decades, mostly with her dear friends Mary Kucera of Troy, New York and Gail Poirier of Saratoga Springs, New York.
Maria was a graduate of Cohoes High School and she worked for many years for the Saratoga County Elderly Nutrition Program, where she touched the lives of many of our local seniors. Maria spent most of her summers on Saratoga Lake from her childhood through her early adulthood, a place that she cherished until her last day.
Maria is survived by her husband of many years, Otto Appell and her son Peter D. (April) Casertino of Glens Falls and her daughter, Rita M. (Paul) Young of Saratoga Springs, a paternal aunt, Theresa Bolton, her sister Kathleen (Harry) Pinke of Cohoes, New York, two brothers, Gerald (Marty) Bolton of Allen, Texas and Michael Bolton of Conway, South Carolina. In addition, Maria is survived by her seven grandchildren: Zachary, Brian, Jerry, Allison, Tylor, Alyssa and Julia and countless nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends and family may call Wednesday, November 28, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs, New York.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Rubin Dialysis Center, 59C Myrtle Ave., Saratoga Springs, New York
Maria and her family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Rachid Daoui, the entire staff at Saratoga Hospital and Rubin Dialysis Center for their kindness, compassion and quality health care.
